On Tuesday 11th October the award ceremony for the " For Deftness of
Hand " competition took place at the Pavillon Gabriel in Paris, in the
presence of Madame Liliane Bettencourt and numerous other personalities.
The Foundation allowed us to invite 20 guests to share this unforgetable
moment, surrounding Charly with friends, family and collectors. Not only
impechable organisation but also a warm welcome awaited us.
The Bettencourt Schueller Foundation turned out in full force and demonstrated
their full support and genuine patronage towards us.
The award ceremony orchestrated by the journalist Philippe Lefait began
at 6.30pm with a speech by François Erlenbach, deputy to the Minister,
patronage project leader and Edouard de Royère, President of the Heritiage
Foundation and President of the Jury.
Then, one after another, the award recipients were called forward onto
the stage to talk about their work and to receive their reward.
During the interview a series of photos showing the winner and his work
were projected onto two huge screens on either side of the stage.
Bernard Solon, overall first prize, Jacques Dieudonné, Christian Moretti,
Dominique Folliot and Pierre Christel all received this same honour each
for his, or her, respective works.
A few words from Liliane Bettencourt closed the ceremony, confiding her
fascination for such skilled craftsmanship : " The relationship between
conception of thought and workmanship of hand is a true mystery.
The challenge of each enriching the other. Working together towards progress.
" The buffet which followed will remain in our memories, each one of us
feasting on unusual, refined and above-all delicious produce.
Our mouths still water at the memory! You can see a few photos showing
this, for us, memorable and emotional evening.
Naturally Marc Mesplié took the photos, having afforded us the pleasure
of his company at the ceremony.
